SPRF is hosting its first-ever student competition, The Legends Competition, in honor of the PR legends and teachers who fathered and have nurtured our profession. It is open to member students — individuals or teams.

Each individual/team will select an organization in its community to work with to develop a comprehensive PR plan, including research, planning, execution and measurement. The top three finalists will be invited to present their campaigns to a panel of judges at the SPRF Conference in Baton Rouge, La., Sept. 26-27. All entries will also be considered for awards in the categories of creativity, writing, resource management and use of new media. (Multiple projects may be selected in each of these categories.) These recognition awards and the overall winner will be announced during the first Legends Competition Ceremonies at the conference. Guidelines and Rules are available on the SPRF Web site at: www.sprf.org and are attached to this email.

Entries must be postmarked by Friday, August 20. Finalists will be notified by Friday, September 3.

Presented by central Louisiana chapter of the Public Relations Association of Louisiana

ALEXANDRIA, La., March 1, 2010 – The central Louisiana chapter of the Public Relations Association of Louisiana (PRAL) is accepting submissions for its inaugural Cypress Awards to be presented at a luncheon in May.

Cypress Awards are given as a Louisiana precursor to the Southern Public Relations Federation’s Lantern Awards.

There are 25 available categories including public relations, internal communication, brand management, crisis communication, special events, research, annual reports, magazines, newsletters, electronic publications, invitations, broadcasting, websites, direct mail, brochures and more.

Possible awards include a first place Cypress Award, second place, third place, honorable mention, best of show and judge’s choice.

The competition is open to professionals and students, as well as to both members and non members of the Public Relations Association of Louisiana.

“This is an exciting organization,” said Michelle Toms, PRAL treasurer. “It offers members and guests the opportunity to network, build important relationships throughout the community, learn from peers and hear interesting speakers.
